In 1986 a Commission was formed to review and select artwork for the permanent art display in the new College building that was being constructed on Bedford Avenue. The Commission’s charge was: “To review all works submitted with particular interest in art work depicting our historical civil rights struggle, the quest of academic excellence of Medgar Evers College, the future orientation of the College in preparing students for the 21st century and beyond, and the College’s strong commitment to community service and development.
The Commission feels that it has been true to and executed this charge satisfactorily under the conditions set forth.”
